Balzhinima Dorzhiev was born in Buryatia in 1950.

The art of Balzhinima Dorzhiev is a constant ascension to the peaks of visual rethinking of national art and traditions. At the turn of the century and millennium such a phenomenon is not by chance. Anticipation of global changes guide the artist to the eternal search of truth-“who are we…” which leads him to a pagan perception of environment and that lets him create reflection pictures about historical fate of his nation for the past years.
Balzhinima Dorzhiev’s career can be called a systematic osmosis of the eternal secret of existence. After graduating from Irkutsk Art school with distinction, Leningrad Academy of Arts named after Repin I.E., acknowledged maestro E.E. Moiseenko’s workroom the artist is on the hunt for his subject, his path in art. His first solo-exhibition took place in the Buryat museum of fine art named after Sampilov Ts.S. in 1993. This was a time of overall disorder and total perplexity. The fact he had enough courage to arrange such an event at that difficult time was a deed of valour. Running horses, striding pilgrims, singing troubadours and goliards could all be seen on vivid and colourful canvases. Exhibit display occulted “nude” in various scale of colours.
